The Snapper
Shooting whatever is in front of them. Everyone starts here.Pick one subject and shoot only that for a week.
In short
Snappers are at the start with both. You haven't used AI much, and you're still building the habits that keep work at a good standard. Everyone starts here, and it's the easiest place to build good habits from the first day.
Where you shine
- You're starting fresh. You have no shortcuts or rushed habits to unlearn.
- You've taken the first step. You now know where you stand.
- Small steps show quickly. At the start, each new habit makes a difference you can see.
- You can learn both sides together, the tools and the checking. That's the best way to learn them.
Where it trips you up
Without a plan, AI gets used for whatever comes up, and whatever it gives back gets used as it is.
It's hard to know what to check when both the tool and the task are new. So some people at this stage avoid AI, and others accept its answers without a second look.
The risk. Standing still, or trusting too easily. Either you don't start, or you start and take AI's word for it. This matters in every kind of work, and most where what you send out goes to customers, students or the public.
You in a team
You bring fresh eyes, and good questions help a team more than people expect.
You pair well with someone further along, like The Composer or The Catcher. Watching how they ask AI, and how they check it, is the fastest way to learn.
How to level up
Start small and stay with one thing.
- This week, pick one kind of task and use AI only for that.
- Ask AI how to do a task you already know well. Then check its answer against what you know.
- Before you use any AI answer, check one fact in it against where it came from.
- Ask a colleague to show you one way they use AI.
People who start with small, steady steps often build better habits than people who rushed in. Ask yourself:
- Is there one task you'd like help with every week?
- Do you know someone who uses AI well and could show you?
- Are you willing to check one fact each time?
If yes, a few weeks of small steps will move you towards The Composer: someone building judgment and AI skill together.
